Mindful Pilates with Sharon Allen
Sharon Allen is the owner of Mindful Pilates and assistant director for Northwest Florida Ballet. She and her husband, Todd Eric Allen, have been an intergral part of arts and cultural in NW Florida with the creation of their public school for the arts, NFB Academie, and pre-professional company programs. Her certifications include the PhysicalMind Institute, Kathy Corey Pilates, a professional educators certificate in the state of Florida and she is a “Healthy Foot Practitioner” through the Restorative Exercise Institute. She holds a B.F.A. in Dance from Radford University and studied at Virginia Intermont College, North Carolina School of the Arts and Boston Ballet School. Some of her most cherished mentors include Terri Post, Constance Hardinge, Deanna Cole, Karen Gibbons-Brown, Cynthia Pratt, William Spencer, Fanchon Cordell, Dagmar Kessler, Franco Jelincic, Adrienne Hawkins, Bernadette Clements Sims, Dorothy Daniels Lister, and Hilary Cartwright.
A dance teacher since her teenage years, Ms. Allen has taught inspiring, creative classes to her students for over 30 years. Dance departments include Harvard-Radcliffe, Jeanette Neil Dance Studio, the University of West Florida, and The Florida Dance Association. Her professional performance career was with Mill Mountain Theater, Boston Dance Company, Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre and Impulse Dance Company and Northwest Florida Ballet. Her students have gone on to prestigious companies and programs such as Julliard, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Ballet West, and Pacific Northwest Ballet.
Sharon has choreographed and taught dance and Pilates for schools throughout the U.S. and continues to tour internationally as a performer with Lightwire Theater. Her love for teaching human beings of all ages brings a mindful approach to her professional work in nurturing her clients to attaining their personal goals for the health of the entire being.
